Dawn's Embrace

Dawn's Embrace is an original mosaic measuring 20" x 24" (24½" x 29" framed), created with both glass and ceramic tiles. It captures the awe and power of witnessing a whale breach off the coast of Maine — a moment that stayed with me long after the waves settled.

Intricate barnacle patterns are formed using glass beads, adding dimension and shimmer to the whale's surface. The swirling water, radiant sky, and dynamic motion of the breach were built over more than 100 hours of meticulous tile placement, with each piece contributing to the energy and majesty of the scene.

This one-of-a-kind mosaic is a celebration of Maine's ocean wildlife and the unforgettable experience of seeing one of these giants rise from the sea.
