THE ARTIST BEHIND THE MOSAICS
My Journey
My journey as an artist has taken me farther than I ever imagined. Although I grew up in Suffolk, England, it was while living in Cyprus that I discovered the ancient art of mosaic. Surrounded by the island's remarkable history, beautiful light, and centuries-old craftsmanship, I found an art form that immediately captured my imagination.
Now, from my studio in Machias, Maine, I create mosaics inspired by everything from the rugged beauty of the coast and beloved family pets to timeless works of art and personal stories shared through commissioned pieces.
WORLDWIDE INFLUENCES
A World of Inspiration
During fifteen years accompanying my husband throughout his U.S. Foreign Service career, we lived in twelve different countries. Every place left an impression—from its architecture and landscapes to its history, colors, and artistic traditions.
Those experiences continue to shape the way I see the world and the mosaics I create today. Whether I'm designing an original piece, interpreting a beloved photograph, or reimagining a classic work of art, each mosaic reflects a lifetime of inspiration gathered from many places and cultures.
THE CREATIVE PROCESS
Why Mosaics
Mosaic art asks you to slow down. There isn't a shortcut to placing thousands of individual pieces by hand, and that's part of what I love about it. Each cut, each color choice, and each tile contributes to the finished piece in its own small but important way.
Many people are surprised to learn that every tile is cut by hand. It's a time-consuming process, but it's also what gives each mosaic its texture, movement, and personality.

INSPIRATION
Finding Beauty
Inspiration has a way of finding me in unexpected places. It might begin with the light on a Maine lighthouse, the expression of a beloved pet, or the colors of a quiet garden. Wherever it starts, my goal is to create a mosaic that captures not just the image, but the feeling behind it.
I enjoy creating artwork that feels personal. Whether I'm working from a photograph or developing an original idea, I want each mosaic to capture more than an image—I want it to capture a feeling.
SHARING THE CRAFT
Teaching Others to Create
One of the greatest joys of being an artist is sharing what I've learned with others. My workshops are designed to be welcoming, encouraging, and hands-on, whether you're creating your very first mosaic or building on previous experience.
Watching students discover what they're capable of creating is every bit as rewarding as finishing one of my own pieces.
